pay it forward
Felicé Project was conceived out of a passion for quality hand-crafted products from Italy. We love Italy and all things (products, produce)
from Italy. We are blessed to be able to make repeated trips to Italy, which has given us the opportunity to explore the land, the people,
the products, the produce and to be able to pursue our passion through Felicé Project. We want to Give Back and do our little bit for Society.
We will donate 20% of profits to Charity. We aim to help physically, mentally and socially disadvantaged children so that they too will be able
to experience the many facets of life that we often take for granted.

Choose Reclaimed wood; help slow deforestation
We are very fortunate to have as our partner an Italian company who actively reclaims wood (beams, wooden structures etc) from old cottages,
alpine houses and barns in Italy and Europe that would otherwise be razed to the ground to make way for new developments and infrastructure.
These reclaimed wood are expertly treated and recycled into beautiful benches, tables, chairs, floor/wall boards and cabinets.
Buying a reclaimed wood product not only helps the environment but you will own a unique and beautiful piece of furniture. The hundreds of years'
old wood has characteristics (grain and knots) that you will never see in young trees that are being chopped for the wooden furniture you see in
the shops. Machine sawn timber can never compare with the uniqueness of the hand hewn irregularities of antique wood and its aged tones.
Leather we use is humanely processed with zero impact on the environment
For our customized sofas or chairs, the leather we use is 100% processed in Italy from cow hides of European origin. We use 100% aniline or semi-aniline
full grain leather, and not bonded or laminated leather or split leather as you may find in some furniture in the market. The company we work with produces
zero impact, sustainable leather. It has spent 10 years in research aimed at reducing the environmental impact in every stage of production, and is one of
the top leather tanneries in Italy in terms of quality too.
Leather is a by-product of cattle and sheep husbandry. Cattle and sheep are reared mainly for their meat, milk and wool; and their hides if unused would go
to waste. Leather has been used since palaeolithic times and is a renewable natural resource. If leather was not produced, it would have to be replaced by
synthetic materials derived from non-renewable sources.
Genuine full grain leather is a natural product. It is breathable and acclimatises to your body temperature making it comfortable in both hot or cold weather.
It is longer lasting (compared to fabric), does not tear easily and ages well. However, not all "leather" are created equal.
Glossary of Leather Terminology
Aniline leather : Top or full grain leather which has been dyed but not given any pigmented coating.
Semi-aniline leather : Aniline leather which has received a surface coating containing a small amount of pigment in the base coat. The surface coating gives
greater stain resistance and still retains much of the aesthetic beauty of aniline leather.
Pigmented leather : leather that has received a surface coating containing pigments which imparts wear, water and stain resistance. If the pigment layer is too
thick, the "leather" will have a plastic feel, and in various countries it cannot be called leather.
Nubuck leather : Aniline leather finished by lightly buffing or sanding the grain surface to produce a velvety nap. Nubuck has a much finer nap than suede because
the grain layer has a tight fibre.
Split : the middle or lower section of a hide and hence does not have a natural grain surface. It may be buffed to produce suede or embossed with an artificial
grain to look like top/full grain leather. However, it has a looser fibre structure and hence is less durable.
Bonded "leather" : Often passed off as leather but is not leather. Sheets made from small scraps of leather or fibres with a binding agent which is then glued onto
cloth or paper. The surface is a synthetic coating embossed with artificial leather-like grain. Often results in peeling, short life span and doesn't acclimatise
to body temperature.
Laminated "leather" : Composite of 2 or more layers with thick laminate attached to the flesh side. Doesn't breathe and tends to crack.
Faux or fake leather : Made of PVC or polyurethane and embossed with leather-like grain. Looks and feels like plastic, not breathable.
